There was a 55% drop in numbers for this years Ardfield 5k road race on Sunday the 16th of October 2016. As you can see from the chart above, the total number had stabilised just above 200 for the last two years but dropped dramatically this year.

Poor weather conditions and the Carbery Rangers match on the same day were probably two major reasons for the drop in numbers. Despite the smaller crowds it was still a very enjoyable race. Well stewarded, well organised and a good course! (Some great food afterwards too!) Will certainly be back next year! Well done to all involved.
ReplyDeleteThe exact same weather forecast was there for the Rebel Run and their numbers were well up. As a new runner from Bandon, that's the one I went to. I didn't even know there was a 5k run in Ardfield which is a pity as it is closer. Is this a new event?
