The annual Rock n Roll Half Marathon in Dublin was held this year on Sunday the 7th of August. This also doubled up as the National Half-Marathon Championships and around 20 club athletes from Cork took part, about the same as last year.
The provisional results show that there were 6 individual medal winners from Cork.

Eagle AC took bronze too in the M35 team event
ReplyDeleteThe overall winner, Brian Mac Mahon is also a Cork man but is now based in Dublin, he regularly represents Cork teams in XC races.

ReplyDeleteI wonder how serious they take this half marathon as the top 3 marathon runners are out in rio and none of the world half marathon team showed up probably because they were aiming for rio,aai should really consider their dates......
ReplyDeleteBrian McMahon was the overall winner of the national champs and is from Carrignavar even though he transferred to clonliffe as he works in Dublin but as they say once a corkman always a corkman!!!Well done Brian.Years of hard work and well deserved
ReplyDeleteA tough course but we shouldn't always be looking for "flat/fast" courses. The course profile (particularly 2nd half) along with the very strong headwind for pretty much all of the first 6miles took care of most peoples PB ambitions on the day. Still a day when your can run with a slightly different purpose, a championship race where focus turns to placings instead of times. Overall a good event put on by "Rock N Roll" and €35 is a reasonable fee for AAI member entry.
