Chip timing company Precision Timing go into receivership...

Precision Timing are the largest chip timing company in Ireland and covered the whole country whereas other players in the market tend to be smaller and more regional. As well as doing chip timing, they also provided a service whereby they took online entries. There are a number of companies doing this and normally charge a small fee for doing so.

It has been just announced that Precision Timing have issued an insolvency notice. This has an immediate impact on organisers planning upcoming races or any who have held a race in the last few months, used the online entry service and didn't get paid.

The company has been involved in about 200 races in roughly the last 6 months so this is likely to impact on quite a few.

An insolvency notice can be seen HERE

A meeting of creditors is scheduled for the 16th of October 2015.

It would be wrong to speculate as to why the company got into trouble so no comments please to that effect.

The companies website is http://www.precisiontiming.net

Their Facebook page and Twitter pages are down.

It's sad to see a company that seemed to have been doing so well get into trouble like this. They also employed a number of people who were out on the road most of the week going to races all over the country and they would be well known to a lot of race organisers.

  3. Anyone doing the maths on this ? Average race 250 entrants at 20e x 200 races that's One million euro ! Questions need to be answered.

  4. A big blow to the running community for sure. Less competition if nothing else, but I always thought their service was good.

Just checked my Dungarvan entry and it looks like it's with Active.com, so unaffected I presume -phew!

Of the 200 or so races, Precision Timing would have done just the chip timing for a lot without taking entries. Others would have been a mix of manual and online entries...probably mainly manual. And a percentage would be online only via Precision.
