Review of the 2014 Cork Graded Track & Field League by Fergus O'Donovan

The Cork Graded Track & Field League was first started in 2011 and is now in its fifth year. With John Buckley Sports as the series sponsor, the league has been successful in introducing more track and field competitions to a wider audience as well as giving existing T&F athletes more opportunities to compete.

One of the main people behind the series has been Fergus O'Donovan of St.Finbarr's AC. He has produced a report on the 2014 series and it can be seen below...

Review of the 2014 Cork Graded League by Fergus O'Donovan.....The 2014 season was fairly good although it is not flattered by comparison with the previous year's figures. With 6 meetings as against 9 (in 2013), the average no. of athletes per meeting was 59.3, less than the 2013 figure 67.25 but more than the 2012  52. The no. of athletes per event follows a similar pattern and performance standards are consistent over the last 3 years.

5 Cork clubs were represented at all 6 meeting and only these 5 clubs averaged more than 2.5 athletes per meeting.

13 clubs averaged less than 1 athlete per meeting. On 32 occasions Cork athletes competed as the only member of their club.
