Results of the Ballintotis 4 mile road race...Thurs 16th Apr 2015

It looks like a huge crowd turned out for the 2015 Ballintotis 4 mile road race. A total of 1171 runners turned out which is up 16% on last year. An amazing number for a short race in the East Cork countryside.

  1. Great race again, superbly organised, great atmosphere, and even with the massive numbers it ran to time.

  4. Super race in Ballintotis once more.
Great organisation with such a large volume of runners. Great to rub shoulders/eat dust of one of the great's Sonia O'Sullivan. However, the big test for any race is the quality of the buns post race. They definitely ticked all the boxes and stole the show!!! All hail!

  6. Great run last night, extremely well organised. My only negative - the starting time zones. I went into my correct zone and i don't know if it was due to the amount of people at the race but it took 0.5 miles for me to settle into my pace and not have to overtake the slower runners in front of me. There was a lot of congestion and I was overtaking a lot of people who judging by their pace had no ability to be in the zones they started out in. I wouldn't be going back to this course for a PB, 0.5 miles is a significant delay in a 4 mile run.

  8. Great race thanks. No water left for the last couple of hundred runners. We need it most - on the road the longest!

  9. Great race started well back in my zone and had no problems with getting to my pace or passing slower runners. Fantastic organizing.

  10. Great race but would echo the comment on the water; not having any water left for the runners in the back of the field was very disappointing, especially after running a PB! Will be there next year but please put a few bottles away for finishers who run 35+ mins

  13. Now that's how to run a race. Well done to all involved.

Only comment I would have was I saw a good few wearing headfones. Even thou it was on closed roads, its still not safe.

Either it was sweat in my eyes or the display clock at the finish line was about 10seconds off the gun time.

  14. Echoing all the above, brilliantly organised considering the numbers involved. Also, big shout out to the lads who helped pull/push my car out of a boggy part of car park C. Thanks again lads

  16. WOW! Just when you think the bar can't be raised any higher Ballintotis yet again exceed all expectations. With the largest crowd ever for a mid-week race in Munster, fantastic from start to finish, with registration, stewards, catering, lighting back to car parks etc., all involved excelled themselves. And the extra bonus to run with Ireland’s greatest ever athlete, Sonia. Take a bow Ballintotis, and thank you.

  18. As previously mentioned, there seemed to be a ten second difference between the gun time and the clock. Otherwise an excellently managed race.

The comment above regarding the BHAA is harsh. An awful lot of work and huge improvements have happened over the last 12-18 months with BHAA races. The anonymous person that commented above put your hand up at the next race and help out and show them how it's done please. I didn't do Ballintotis but have done before and I wouldn't expect anything else from them. They alway put on a great race.

  22. My first time in Ballintotis and certainly won't be the last. The car parking, registration, stewards, support along the way to the refreshments after - everything was great!
    Well done to all involved.
