Tough little course, well done bhaa
ReplyDeleteWhat a badly organised race, never seen such mayhem at the start of the race, no water at the finish line. Would put you off going to a race organised by the BHAA!!
ReplyDeleteI agree that it was a bit disorganized at the start, but there was water available past the finish line. It was a tough course, but what a lovely evening.
ReplyDeleteAlso, enjoyed the cuppa back at the hall, so no complaints from me. Great value for a fiver.
There was water at the finish. About 20/30 meters from the line.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was well organised. Given the numbers, everything went well. Small delay at the start but with people arriving to register 15min before the start thats bound to happen. Massive feed of tea and sandwiches afterwards. And for 5euro... Come on, how can anyone complain!
To the anonymous comment no.2.... There was plenty of water at the finish line about 50m from the end, you surely walked passed it on the way back to the hall for your tea/coffee/cake/sandwiches/biscuits ??? The race started 9min late and as mentioned before it due to people arriving late to register. 9mins isn't that much of an inconvenience. Whether you paid €8 or €5 all monies went to the children's hospital in the CUH.... Fair play Stryker.
ReplyDeleteSo the next time you leave a comment 'anonymously' at least put your name against so we know who you are and we can ask you to help out some night, cause only for the same people that help out for every race there would be no BHAA. Even come along with some water and you can hand it out.
This is an excerpt from a previous post. The Cork BHAA offer what are probably the best value races in the country.
ReplyDeleteCork BHAA....It costs €10 to register with them for the year and then registered runners pay €5 per race with non-reg runners paying €8. All in all, very good value.
BHAA....The BHAA in Dublin charge €15 to register for the year. Registered runners pay €10 per race while non-reg pay €15. Obviously not as good as the Cork BHAA rates but cheaper than many of the other races in the Dublin area.
Kerry...The new inter-firm league in Kerry is different in that it is organised by the Kerry County Athletics Board in partnership with Run the Kingdom, a commercial company which operates the Tralee Marathon as well as as several other races in the North Kerry area. It will cost €15 to register for this new Kerry league and for each race, registered runners pay €10 while non-reg pay €20.
Not sure if poster #2 was at the same event as the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteSmall delay at the start was fine - gives you time to talk to others, have a laugh, make friends etc.
Plenty of water past the finish line and refreshments in the hall.
And at the end of the day some money made for a worthy cause
Well done BHAA and Stryker....
People should be grateful for those who organise these races. Every venue is different. Carrigtwohill is a busy area. Well done to everyone.
ReplyDeleteGreat race great evening great course. The only Minor problem I found was the last 100 meters to the finish was a bit tight I could not really sprint past other. Thanks
ReplyDeleteJohn
ReplyDeletethe kerry interfirm is cancelled no suprise considering the amount of money run the kingdom was charging
Tough course but a v enjoyable night. As others said water station just after finish line. Well done Stryker & Bhaa
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I run the races and am not involved in the organisation. I have by far the easier job. Well done BHAA.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't agree with ANonymous#2 either but lets welcome all comments whether positive or negative.
ReplyDeleteThanks to all the volunteers in the BHAA who have organized another great event. 542 finishers in 2014, 750 finishers in 2015, an increase of over 38%. BHAA must be doing something right.
ReplyDeletewell done to all involved in the Bhaa.
ReplyDeletegreat night had for what was a small fee and as said it all went to charity.
for €5/€8 your getting to just turn up run a well organised race get water food etc and photos also by the excellent Kieran/Doug Minihane Mick Dooley ect.
Time to actknowlege these people who give of their time voluntarely and stop nit picking at petty things.
well done again and thanks
For a four mile race at such a small charge I dont think anyone should be expecting water or any refreshments but all the races still put this on. So when you think about it if you were to go into a shop and pay for a bottle of water, tea, sandwhich etc it would cost a lot more than the entry fee. I am currently organising a race myself and it is through sponsorship and volunteers that we will be able to offer bottled water, banannas, tea, coffee, sandwhiches etc etc. Only for the work of volunteers this would not be possible. People should be very slow to criticise until they know what it takes and what is involved. There is a huge amount of races being organised at the moment and the majority of funding goes back into community projects. I really think peoples expectations have gone to high for a race entry fee of 10euro or less.
ReplyDeleteAny word on when the results will be out?
ReplyDeleteGreat race on a lovely evening. We can count ourselves lucky here in Cork to have such a great selection of races with such cheap entry prices with decent spreads afterwards as well! Hats off the Cork BHAA and to all those involved in organising the races.
ReplyDeleteAny sign of results being posted
ReplyDeleteAs per usual a very well organised BHAA event, not a hint of any mayhem at the start was evident, and plenty of water provided near the finish. Can't fault the BHAA, another great course and good value for money. Well done to all who helped out. From a pleased UCC runner.
ReplyDeleteResults will be out soon. Taking a break from data entry reading all the mostly positive comments!
ReplyDeleteI thought the atmosphere was brillant and a lovely evening but i did not feel it was organized well, unusually so for an established BHAA race, with minor confusion at the start but a lot of confusion at the end of the race. What with the bulk of the runners finishing being marshalled into 3 different lines, how were peoples times and placement being recorded (methinks, rightly or wrongly that this may be the reason why there is a delay with the results being posted!!).
ReplyDeleteWhile €8 & €5 is value for money, there has been plenty of BHAA races (marina 5k) and non BHAA races (Ballycotton summer series)far superiorly organised, so price shouldnt be an issue.
Re the water station at the end, I feel that this was an unusual distance beyond the finish line as I only happened upon it when I was walking back to the community hall.
great nite great weather here comes the rain again
ReplyDeleteUpdate Fri 24th @8am...The Cork BHAA are having some technical issues with their website at the moment. As soon as they're sorted, they will have the results up.
ReplyDeleteI think someone in the BHAA needs to put 50p in the meter!!
ReplyDeleteDropped a Euro in so we should be good to go for a while.
ReplyDeleteResults are now online.
Agree with anon 2 as a first timer I found it poorly signposted minor confusion at the start. The race itself was good enough but for the slower runners there was no water at the station which we stumbled upon accidentally 50 yards away. And as for the refreshments yes some people missed out thanks to the others who couldn't pile anymore on to their plates yes we were fighting for the crumbs left on the biscuit trays.
