Same day as Munster hurling final, hope they have it well organised with closed roads.........
ReplyDeleteHurling final not fixed for Cork. Looks like Thurles.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good route for a race. Looking forward to it....the race that is....not the GAA ;P
Only from 1-3k needs to be closed. All the rest is on a pathway that doesn't require road closures.
ReplyDeleteis the 5K an out and back loop to the castle?
ReplyDeleteThe Munster final is fixed for Cork on the 13th.
ReplyDeleterace is on at 10am, all race traffic should be gone by then, im sure match does not start til later, park in town and walk out i suppose is an option
ReplyDeleteLooks like they have changed the start time from 10.00 to 9.00.
ReplyDeleteyea, I had that query too - is it 9:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m.
ReplyDeleteYea that was my question too is it now 9 am

25euro for a 10k race?! Are they serious!!?? What a disgrace. Will people ever stop paying crazy entry fees as it just gives event for profit organisers a boost.
ReplyDeleteThe Boston Scientific half-marathon is 25euro, the ballynonty 10 mile for 10euro. There's much better value races out there all thru the summer if you just look around.
The entry fee also includes a dry fit top.
ReplyDeletePlenty of choice out there. People can make up their own mind.
Just in relation to the last comment about the price...I race a lot _inc Clonmel half and ballynonty 10, probably too much, and yes, at 25 euros it isn't the cheapest race. However in its defense I did this last year and enjoyed it...got a top quality long sleeve tech top, great atmosphere at the start with a dj etc, a definite PB course with only one short hill at blackrock castle,a good goodie bag if you like that sort of thing, and of course a free copy of the Sunday Independent. Freedom of choice really, but calling it a disgrace is a bit harsh.
ReplyDeletehave to agree with some of the comments....i know we have choice and can decide to run or not...25 is sticky for a 10k tbh...most of these races are ran as money making excercises (with some element of 'charity' noted)...any race that charges over 10euro should be giving finishers prizes to all athletes...tshirts or something...seen a race in tipp give out towels...
ReplyDeleteJust a reminder that there is a short sleeve fry fit top given out with the FIT 5k & 10k race.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone goes into any sports store, they are charging €20-€25 for the same thing.
the sight says registration closed tonight on the 11th. Is there a registration the morning before the race? We are from the US and just found this race on the sight.
ReplyDeleteYes, you can enter on the morning of the race from 8am.
ReplyDeleteTry to get there as early as possible.
