Thank you to all of you who participated (approx 200) and I hope you enjoyed the Christmas Fun Run.We had to announce a 30 minute delay due to ice but it thawed rapidly. The width of the walkway (about 3m) did not prove to be a problem (we just asked everyone to keep left)although if numbers increase significantly in future years we can consider altering the course to accommodate perhaps by going down the road and back up the walkway. We will have the results available for publishing within 24 hours. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone receive the technical top that was to be given to finishers of the 10k? I didn't.
ReplyDeleteI also wondered about the technical top so I checked online last night and I think you had to enter online to get the top but this wasn't mentioned on the poster for the run.I did see some people with the top at the run and it looked like the one for the 2012 railway run that had had the year changed to 2013.
ReplyDeleteNice relaxed atmosphere event and flat course ideal for an after Christmas run. And what scenery - Failte Ireland could use some of the photos to promote tourism. Well done to organisers. Ice / thaw delay was the prudent decision.
ReplyDeleteYes it was only a sticker over the date from last year . It cost 16 euro on line to register thought even a cup ot tea or coffee would of been given out. Also no toilet facilities . Did enjoy run but maybe next year a few changes.
ReplyDelete10k results are inaccurate - extra runners recorded as finishing and female 10k winner is incorrect. Perhaps some 5km runners are included in the 10km results? Nice event and location and good to see it well-supported but it is over-priced, especially since the event is not chip-timed (and more so if the results, when published, are not reliable). Re: t-shirts: it turned out you had to register online to receive a t-shirt - this was not clear from the posters but it was stated on the runireland registration page. Apparently you could purchase a t-shirt for 3 euro on the morning if you wished. There is definitely the demand for an event in this area over the Christmas season, as the numbers show, and hopefully the Carrigaline Road Runners can iron out any hitches for next year's event. Well done to all involved for their efforts.
ReplyDeleteWhat is needed in the Carrigaline area at this time is a Goal Mile, not another Road Race, you have Belgooly, Togher and Bandon all within trotting distance and all good value at 10 euro a go.
ReplyDelete21:47 time as number 49..... Should be number 45 as far as I can tell. Emma . L
ReplyDeleteFair play to the organisers. I posted a pb at 10k and it is ideal preparation for the dungarvan 10 . I think that the t shirt issue should be clarified.many people make a decision to do a race based on the promise of at shirt.well done all round.
