Results & Photos of the 2013 Dublin City Marathon...Mon 28th Oct 2013
Conditions for this year's Dublin City Marathon were almost ideal....blue skies, sunshine, cool with no showers. There was a strong breeze but at street level with all of the buildings and the large crowds, it wasn't really an issue.
What made this year a lot more interesting as well was all of the Irish runners competing for the top prizes.

Video...
1) 12 minute video...Fenian Street (near the Macken Street junction), near the finish line at the corner of Merrion Square and Lincoln Place, and finally on Grand Canal Street. Most of those filmed on Fenian Street and at the finishing line were running between a 3 hour and 3.30 hour pace. Those filmed on Grand Canal Street were running between a 4.30 and 5 hour pace.
2) Start of the 2013 Dublin City Marathon....and this is only the first wave!
3) This 55 minute video was taken near the earlier part of the race...

Hi John,
ReplyDeletePerfect day for it and super organisation as usual... My only complaint is for the entry fee the goody bag at the expo and the finish line were very poor...I thought after completing a marathon at the very least a banana in the bag.. Otherwise a great day.. The support along the route was incredible well done dublin!!!
Waiting on 4 Quinn Brothers photos please. Martina Kearins. Sligo.
ReplyDeleteThe link to the 12 min video seems to be missing.
ReplyDeleteTo improve irish marathon running let elites finance themselves in future like this year. 30k car for 1st to 7k for 2nd is some drop. Great year for irish athletics.
ReplyDeleteIt was a pity there were no elite international (African) runners racing. Although it is great to see Irish runners claiming the top spots, I think Dublin marathon needs to attract high profile runners too.
ReplyDeleteNo I don't think we need to get any fast African or Russian runners to improve the profile! What for?? The entries this year were higher than usual with still plenty of overseas runners from France, UK, USA...So let the Irish runners get the top prizes!!
ReplyDeleteI don't disagree, I think its great to see local athletes winning top prizes.
ReplyDeleteBut, if you ask what attracts people to Berlin / Paris / London? What is it....
A fast course? (elites running sub 2:10 in previous years)
A chance to share an event with the best in the world?
A chance to participate in a 'major event'
People will have seen the 2:08 ran last year and will see that Dublin is a 'major event' and a fast course.
