11 year old wins 5k race in New Jersey
Spotted on the net recently. Last Sunday, Catherine Wimmer aged just 11 years old won the womens race at the Little Silver 5k in New Jersey in a time of 19:46.
This is reminiscent of my second race ever, the Cara 7 in Little Island, in October 1984.
A certain "Sofia O'Sullivan" (Cork Examiner hadn't a clue who she was) ran 40:20 (5:45 pace), to finish a sensational 20th place overall. She was 14 (well a few weeks shy of 15) at the time.
How did this happen? says alot about the fitness levels in New Jersey
