Sonia O'Sullivan launches successful Fit4Youth Programme

Olympic silver medalist Sonia O'Sullivan launched the Fit4Youth programme on Monday evening the 16th of September at the Mardyke track in Cork City.

This is a 6-week exercise programme aimed at students in schools who may have not be involved in formal or team sports. Sonia O’Sullivan attended the first evening to show her support of the programme. When commenting about this initiative, Sonia said: “I think this is a great idea and will be a good starting point for many young people, I am delighted to be able to endorse it personally on the 16th and hope that schools will promote it among their students to ensure that the programme continues after the initial six weeks.”

The participants will be led by qualified coaches throughout the six weeks and will be go through the basics of athletics training as well as warming up and cooling down correctly. Each student will participate at their own level and ability of fitness and will set their own personal goals for the programme.
