The inaugural Conna 5 km road race which was organised by local club St.Catherines AC was held on Thursday evening, the 1st of August. Despite the poor conditions, the race attracted a large field of 192 runners which is an excellent number for a first outing.
The mens race was won by James McCarthy of East Cork AC in a time of 15:37 on what is a hilly course. The first woman home was Aisling Moran of Leevale AC.

It was a lovely race, difficult enough course however I enjoyed the challenge. Lovely food & hospitality after. The only negative I have is the stewarding at the last 200m, I ended up dodging cars coming up to the cross and it affected my finishing time.
