Beware of car clamping at the UCC Farm in Curraheen

As many of you will be aware, the UCC Farm in Curraheen is a popular spot for runners. For those of you parking outside, please avoid using the approach road to the greyhound track.

Someone sent me this info by e-mail.......Just a quick note that the blog followers might be interested in. Today (20-8-2013) at Curraheen grounds (the farm), I parked my car near the entrance and while I was changing to plod around the pitches, a fellow athlete told me that when he returned to his car (that was parked near mine) he had been clamped and had to fork out €125 to get it released.

So athletes, beware of the double yellow lines that are going ACROSS the road near the entrance of the Farm. Below the double yellow lines at the greyhound side is private property of the greyhound track which is "policed" by the clampers and you will get clamped if you park at this side of the lines.

Yellow lines start where the tarmac changes colour

  1. anyone know where is safe to park, always thought at side of road across from gate (no double yellow lines) was safe. Is this def not the case?

  2. I thought the same myself, its a joke they're clamping there. Pure money-making racket. Unless you're parked on the lines at times when there's something on in the dog track you're doing no harm

  3. Once your above the double yellow lines going across the road by the entrance to the farm you will be fine as this belongs to u.c.c. Park below the yellow lines you are in the clampers territory.

The road to the Greyhound track, beyond the entrance to the Farm appears to be private property. This is the area subject to clamping.

Maybe someone could check with the County Council (maps) to see precisely where the public road ends.

I've sent John a photo which shows where the private section starts.

  9. I am a x clamper who worked in cork, you can park your car anywhere left or right on the ucc side of the double yellows crossing the road, yes it is a total money making scam because they give us targets to hit every day, and if we don't we loose our job, and yes I hated doing it! Hope this is helpfully lads enjoy the running.
