There was a big turnout of 235 runners for this 4 mile road race around the streets of Youghal town in East Cork. The first man home was Sean McGrath of East Cork AC in a time of 20:06. The first woman was Dymphna Ryan of Dundrum AC in a time of 23:13. Dymphna was also the first woman home in the Cork BHAA race the previous evening in Cork City and is a regular winner of races in the Tipperary area.

Great night and very well organised. The atmosphere around the streets was very good. Great spread after especially the cream cakes.

ReplyDeleteIt is a pity to have scheduled this new race the night before the Kilworth 5 mile race as runners will only pick 1 race a week and especially Cork runners will pick the race closer to them! I think the County Board will have to review how they deliver permits.
