Now that the first 2,500 entries for the Ballycotton 10 mile road race are full, what did you think of this year's system?
Did you prefer the old system with 2,500 postal entries? Did you like the mix of postal and online entries this year? Or do you think all of the entries should be online in future?
Leave your comments here and vote in the poll to the right.
I'd imagine that an online poll might be slightly skewed. Maybe people should be allowed to post in their answer? With all posts received after 12 December being ceremoniously destroyed. :-)
ReplyDeleteI believe the system should be fully online from now on. It cuts out all of the messing around.
ReplyDeleteit was so handy, i wasnt going to do the race until i saw it on facebook you could enter online!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the online system. It's the way to go. Time to do away with that orrible old prehistoric system of SAE's
ReplyDeleteThis years entry process was too complicated by far. Myself and 3 friends all entered online yesterday. We are all club runners who could have waited to do the club runner postal entry next week.
ReplyDeleteOnline only next year please! Even for the club runners!!
I think the AAI members and summer series entrants should have been sent in first, because by looking at the list a lot of club runners have entered through the SAE option which deprives non club members a place.
ReplyDeleteOut of all the comments I've read regarding B.C, Comment 6 makes the most sense.
ReplyDeleteClub and Summer Series first, on-line or by post by a specific date and remaining positions left for the non-club runners...

Alex...a very valid point. The results should give a good idea as to what people think but with the proviso that you pointed out.
ReplyDeleteMore time should be given for postal entries to arrive, I entered by post (posted Monday night) but as my name wasn't listed I then had to enter online.. so now I guess I will get my postal order back...
ReplyDeleteOnline is the way to go. The post option just adds to the hassle and cost for everyone. Release a link for club runners and summer series first. Then open up the remaining places to the public.
ReplyDeletei would agree with the club runners entering first... loads of places on the list aldready published taken by club runners... the panic that sets in around this race is amazing... even club runners panic to try and get in .. they need to put it on line and be done with it.. p
ReplyDeleteI think it should go back to previous years. Putting the form on the website and posting in your entry by a deadline. Online entry is too easy - making more people entry who won't run on the day.
