Great North Run in the UK next Sunday, the 16th of Sept...

For anyone interested in watching, the Great North Run Half-Marathon is on BBC television from 9:30am to 1:30pm next Sunday. Some 55,000 runners will take part in what is the largest race in the UK and one of the biggest in the world.

A few months ago, it seemed as if the double 5,000/10,000 metre champion Mo Farah would go head to head with the great Haile Gebrselaisse, the former Marathon record holder and winner of the 2010 race. Unfortunately, Haile had to withdraw due to a knee injury while Mo Farah has had trouble finding enough time to train since the birth of his twins. In an interview, he said.... "I'm sorry not to be able to take part in the Bupa Great North Run but the last few weeks have taken their toll and it would be disrespectful to take on the distance without the necessary hard training." He is scheduled to run in a two mile race instead but will be on hand to start the Great North Run.

It's likely to be some spectacle on TV........Sunday.....BBC...9:30am
