Massive amount of unattached runners compared to club runners at this race.
ReplyDeleteHas team/club running gone out of fashion?
So what, isnt wonderful that people have such an interest and enjoying themselves. I was one of the unattached runners and delighted that I completed the course in under an hour.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyable race, good weather, nice scenery. Bag had a protein shake, bottle of water, bar and banana which for 10 euro entry was good value.
ReplyDeleteMissed last night with injury but have to say its great to see so many runners out there these days, unattached or not. I would say as a club member there is no denying the training and of course social benefits to being a club member but it's also not for everyone. One of the great things about running is you go out when you can so not everyone can commit to a structured training time but I think if you can join a club then do.
ReplyDeleteSo what if they are unattached!!. If you look at most races now most are unattached. It's nice to join a club but not everyone with a job etc can commit to training sessions 2 -3 times a week and will go out when it suits themselves.
ReplyDeleteWell organised race, weather was fantastic and the scenery on the course was pretty good. €10 for the race and goodie bag was fantastic value for money, will definitely run Courtmac again.
ReplyDeleteSuper course, super value, great atmosphere. If only all events were this good!
ReplyDeleteDonncha o Brien (unattached)!!
Great race, well organised. However clearer, larger mile marker signs would be great, also i appreciate that your numbers were greater than last year...but you need to have enough sandwiches and goodies for everyone!!!Nice goody bag..
ReplyDeleteA runner may join a club and still train when it suits him / her. Club members need not train at club training sessions if it doesn't suit. My advice (as a club member) is join a club. I find that club membership means I receive invaluable advice & support from more experienced runners. Whether in a club or not, running is a healthy, enjoyable & relatively cheap hobby. It's difficult to travel any suburban road in the evening time now without seeing some runners training, long may it continue.
ReplyDeleteSuper night in Courtmac. Surely the flattest 10k in the country. It was great for us "stragglers" to catch sight of the leaders coming back on the race loop. And top top set-up at Courtmac Hotel after the race - fantastic food, both hot and cold, and a great atmosphere. Deserves a 500+ crowd of runners for this one next year.
