Results of the Ballinhassig 4 mile - Sat 17th March 2012

Just over 200 runners turned out for this 4 mile road race in Ballinhassig on the 17th of March, 2012. The mens race was won by James McCarthy of East Cork AC in a time of 20:17 with George Waugh in second place with 20:28, just 11 seconds adrift. In the womens race, the top two positions were only decided in the last few hundred metres with Martina Kiely of St.Finbarr's AC taking first in 23:47, just 9 seconds ahead of Carmel Crowley in second with 23:56.

    Went to Ballinhassig this glorious morning; lovely 4 mile run though thank gawd, that final hill wasn't much longer!! Gorgeous day for it - good turnout too, I thought.

  3. Agree with Eileen. The weather was perfect for it. That really is an 'interesting' hill at mile 3. Tough, but the donwhill 500 yards to the finish is a godsend after it. Well done to the organisers. And well organised food afterwards in the hall was appreciated.

  5. great day and tough race,beautiful day and also glad of downhill finish. Strange start though; no announcement/whistle etc beforehand. some people still standing around talking and caught off guard as didn't know it started, only people in the front line were aware?...

  6. I got caught by the start as well and in photo I can see I was looking around me as the other runners were heading off ! Greatly enjoyed it though !Especially as it was my first race in 6 months !
