For anyone starting to jog or run, it may not be obvious what type of gear to wear or what is even available. It may seem obvious just to wear an old t-shirt, sweatshirt or hoodie. In reality, you should be trying to avoid wearing cotton clothing as it justs retains the moisture as you sweat. You should be wearing proper gear made from man made fibres that take the moisture away from the skin.
This video from the US gives a good idea of what is available for running in cold weather (Pull the slider across to 1:20 to skip the rubbish at the start). Note that some of the gear mentioned can be puchased for a lot lower prices if you shop around. Suitable running gear can be purchased in any store which has a dedicated running section.
