The Cork BHAA are holding their annual 15 mile Cork to Cobh race on Sunday, the 2nd of October. Enries on the day will be taken at the Montenotte Hotel and the fee is €20.

The race starts at 9:30am.
Course...Starting at St.Patricks Church, we run past the railway station and towards the Dunkettle roundabout. ........then taking a left and onto the old road which passes Glounthaune church.
Then onwards towards the main roundabout before Carrigtwohill and then take the bridge over the main road and head towards Fota, Belvelly bridge and on into Cobh. The finish is close to the main square in the centre of Cobh. Overall, there are a few small hills but nothing major, just one small pull near the 12 mile mark and another smaller one before 14 miles.

Overall, it is pretty flat for the first 10 miles or so with the hardest sections coming in the last 5.
Transport......Please note that you have to make your own way back to Cork City.
Options - You probably have a few options in terms of transport...
1) Two cars...take 2 cars to Cobh, leave one in Cobh and drive up to Cork
2) Train...The train will leave the train station in Cobh for Cork City at 12:30, 1:30, 3:00 and 4:30 pm depending on long you want to stay around after the race. The fee is €4.15 (2010 price).

  1. does one leave the bags in the montenotte hotel and if so up to what time are they taken down to cobh? and also will there be timing chips?

  2. There is usually a van at the hotel to take the gear. It will be in Cobh before the runners arrive.

    There are no timing chips.

  7. With regard to the BHAA results, a one week delay would be pretty normal.

  15. Why don't the Cork BHAA enroll the services of Ballycotton racing promotions for a small extra fee from the runners, and get the results out promptly just like the other road races in Cork . It adds to the excitement for everyone when the results are out quicker. It's now 8 days since this race and no results. What do people think about this issue. This is not criticism at the BHaa I know the BHaa do great voluntary work but 8 days is a bit much .....Any ideas John

  16. The BHAA use a system of handicapping for runners when determining the A, B and C team grades. It's reasonably complex and it's a system they like to have control over themselves so as a result, it is manual.

It's not as simple as just getting someone else to do the results for them.

As far as I know, there were around 700+ runners in the race so that probably explains the delay.
