Ok...I said the last post was going to be the last post before the Marathon but there's always room for one more!
At this stage, most of you should have collected your tops and goody bags in the City Hall.
This is the running top given out to the Marathon runners.
Opinions...???
Better than last year no doubt but somewhat ill fitting? Good improvement though and the kids are fascinated by the fact that it's made from 4 plastic bottles!
ReplyDeletethey are lovely... nicest one yet... and unfortunately this is the first year since 2007 that i am not competing in the full event... boo hoo !!Martin H.
ReplyDeletei like it. i would have liked to have the course printed on the back
ReplyDeleteOnly doing the half this year, top is OK. Personally I don't like V necks so not mad about it. The styling and quality is better than last years full one. In saying that, it's still a heavy top.
ReplyDeleteHope the full one is good you people this year, last years was appalling.
Ya the sizes are all wrong. I have the large and u would fit 2 of me in it
ReplyDeletei ordered a small and got a large and it's like a tent-so not much good that's it's better quality if they are way too big
ReplyDeletegot the womens one today. i really like it. light and airy and nice fit . oh and its bright so the marathon runners cant be missed!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThought the shirt for women a bit bright but sized better than the ones for half.Mine,a woman's small is large enough for two.My husbands one doesnt even have half marathon written on it.Overall an improvement, but its disappointing not being able to wear shirt after putting in the effort.
ReplyDeleteI was given a small half marathon shirt by mistake and i couldn't get it over my head so I took it back and got a medium instead but that is still hard to get over your head.
ReplyDeleteWould have been nice to see the date on them and the word "half" in front of marathon.
I'm doing the half and agree with Seans comment, V-neck is iffy and tops are still a little on the heavy side for running in. The colours are good(Munster rugby kit the last year they won the Heineken cup)and it is a nice fit, much better than heretofore. Good luck to everyone tomorrow, now must go drink water, eat pasta, bate the kids(taper madness) and rest up, but remember above all go out an' enjoy ye'erselves
ReplyDeleteTop is fairly nice. As someone else said the course being on the back would be cool. As would the word "finisher" after the marathon. The top is 7/10 like
ReplyDeleteI'm running the half - 'small' t-shirt - disappointingly it's another for the recycling bin... how wide do the manufacturers think small women are????
ReplyDeleteGood luck everyone tomorrow!!
Got my red top for the marathon. Not wearing it in the race, so wore it around the house today. Must say it is light, comfortable, and it fits! Good work!
ReplyDeletebla bla bla...:)nice t-shirts,they are to bring back the memories of the event and to wear them occasionally,of course the quality is very important :))
ReplyDeletewhat are the others like, do they say half and relay?
ReplyDeleteI asked for a large and got an XL and am swimming around in it. Looks like a medium would have done. Other than that it looks and feels good. I suppose I could get it taken-in.
ReplyDeleteHelp!!! wasn't able to register this weekend- would it be possible to do this tomorrow!!
ReplyDeleteFirst time half marathon runner, but would have been mad about the v-neck style, received wrong size also, a massive large when ordered medium, Munster colours which is great but I wont be wearing the top any time soon..
ReplyDeleteGood luck to all running tomorrow.
Question for you John why are marathons always on the bank-holiday Monday's instead of having them on the sat or sun and recovering on the Monday, thanks.
ReplyDelete1) The reason they are on Bank Holiday Mondays is because it is the quietest day. Sat is way too busy to disrupt the city, lots of other sports fixtures on Sun, Bank Hol Monday tends to be quiet.
ReplyDelete2) Reg in the morning? No idea. Would advise you to go to the city hall at 8am and see if they have a help desk. The expo was there so your bag should be there. Too late to mail or ring now.
3) A good few people seem to be saying that the tops are oversized. I looked up the brand 'Under Armour' and they seem to be American. I wonder if the 'Large' is an American LARGE?
Update....if you were unable to collect your number at the expo then you should go to the City Hall AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE...I would suggest 7:15-30am. You might be able to get your number, you may or may not get your t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteIf you turn up at 8:30 and everything is a mad panic then you have less chance of getting anything.
Very nice running tops. A massive improvement on past years. Under Armour fits a bit on the big side anyway. Next year people can order their size accordingly. Great job!
ReplyDeletegreat top!!
ReplyDeletesaw a lot of halfers wearing their shirts this morning and most had the date and "half marathon" on them.Wonder why some don't?
ReplyDeleteThink the 1/2 Marathon top is ok. A bit heavy, and not for running, but good to wear to work and annoy the workmates. Maybe a proper running top for next year would be nice?
ReplyDeleteFull marathon top is nice but would have been nicer if I got the size I asked for
ReplyDeleteI'd have to agree, the half marathon top is nice for wearing around the house only as it is not a "Technical Shirt" there is no way i could run in it besides which my size small (womans) top is miles too big for me!! It'll be great for the Munster matches in the winter over layers of hoodies!! (How'd they get the sizings so wrong?) Never mind, roll on next year, thank you everyone!
ReplyDeletei ran in mine it was great, ordered medium and got large but it fitted fine, delighted with it
ReplyDeleteOrdered medium. Got medium. Fits perfectly. Best race shirt I've ever got. Happy man.
ReplyDeleteWore it for the first time on a recovery jog on Fri evening, seems a grand running top & way better than last year's one.
ReplyDeleteOn the day even though my bag came from the medium pile the t-shirt turned out to be large but was no big deal to swap it.
what a rubbish shirt, they should see whats given out at dungarvan and copy that
