The Belgooly 4 Mile Road Race that was supposed to be on St.Stephens Day, the 26th of December has been cancelled. It would seem as if the many of the water supplies to the village have frozen and on Health & Safety grounds, the organisers have decided to postpone it until a later date. If you know of anyone thinking of going then you might let them know.
See the statement below from Belgooly AC...
We are forced once again to CANCEL our Annual 4 mile road race due to circumstances beyond our control - Called the weather and freezing conditions. For Health and Safety reasons and the fact that most of Belgooly village is without water we have no option but to postpone......Happy Christmas from all in Belgooly A.C
i know it's still 2 weeks away but will the mallow ten still go ahead as planned. i know a lot of runners like me are unable to get any training done at the mo and are reduced to either using the treadmill or a running track. i know the elite runners will be fine but the ordinary joe will hardly be ready for it. any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteHi Cathal. At the moment we are planning everything with the intention of the race going ahead. No doubt the conditions made it hard for people to get out but hopefully now that the thaw has starting, people will able to get in 2 good weeks training. Remember even if you feel that you are not at your peak this race would be a good gauge to see how you are running and give you a good indication for the rest of the series.
