Conditions for this race was almost ideal.....nice and cool for the start, bright but not sunny with a very gentle breeze. It was only after the 2 hour mark that the clouds began to part and the slower runners got some warm sunshine to contend with. As for numbers in the race, I hear that it was somewhere around the 800 mark which if true, is a jump up from last year's 673 finishers. How long before they break the 1,000 mark?? In 2 or 3 years time??? Looking back to 2002, they got just 242 finishers. That's a big difference in just 7 years.
Results......the results can be found HERE.

It was my first time running this race. What a brilliant race it was! The stewards and people manning the water stations deserve a huge amount of praise...their work was faultless. Thanks to all involved.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Finbarr. Congrats to all the BHAA committee & those who volunteered on the day. There was great craic & banter along the way & a great atmosphere in Cobh at the finish. Looking forward to next year's race!
ReplyDeleteWell done and thank you to all the stewards and the BHAA for such a wonderful event.lovely to see runners that did not do the race help steward it.
ReplyDeleteFantastic race as usual. The peope at the water stations did a great job. They had to bring ~800 bottles to each station then pick them all up after!! Well done to all involved in organising and running it!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat race !
ReplyDeleteFinishline Photographs had a flyer in the goody-bag, and have uploaded their photos this afternoon.

You can even see the headphone wearers !
Please Note: The Seiko clock may have been a little slow.
special words of thanks to the ladies who played the accordian, whistle and bodhrán at silversprings and then managed to be in Cobh too (although, in my case, they had plenty of time to get there!)Thank you ladies, it added to a great day. Great race, great to have those little bottles at the water stations. Now if we could just put the scout hall on wheels and roll it down to the bottom of that hill for afterwards...
ReplyDeleteAnother great race from the BHAA guys. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteJust a mini-rant from me. I saw several runners throw their used water bottles over walls and into ditches. It's fine to drop bottles at the side of the road, close to the aid stations, but throwing them over a ditch creates a nightmare clean-up (and pollution) problem for the organisers.
Finishlinephotographs look good but the tree in the background gives some funny hairstyles

The amount of headphone wearers was disgraceful. There were enough warnings given about not wearing them(including on this blog). These people care about no one but themselves and put the rest of us at risk.I expect to see a lot of "headphone wearer" in the results. It's about time the runners who always abide by the rules took a stand and elimanated these selfish cheats (that's what people who do not abide by the rules are) from our sport.
ReplyDeleteGreat race. It was my first time and I really enjoyed it all. Very serious committment from BHAA and associated volunteers to cover such a long and tricky route. Fair play. Any news on the results?
ReplyDeleteAnother outstanding event by the Cork BHAA.
ReplyDeleteFantastic Value for Money....Excellent Goodie Bag, Quality T-Shirt and great Weather
Well done Lads and Lassies.
The race event was as usual, excellently organised. However, the results (well mine at least) are off. My finish position is 15 minutes slower than I ran! Minor detail, but I'm wondering has anyone else been allocated the incorrect finishing position.
