There was a new male record set in Castlehaven this weekend. Lochlainn Connolly who normally runs in parkruns around Belfast set a new male course record of 18:20 at his fourth attempt. Lochlainn has some form as he ran 16:11 at Belfast Victoria parkrun just before lockdown.
ReplyDeleteCastlehaven parkrun is consider by many reviews and magazines to be among the most scenic parkruns in the world but it is also one of the most technically challenging. It is described by locals as cnocánach and a couple of times each month people show up for an attempt on what is perceived as a 'soft' course record.
They quickly discover it's cnocáinín followed by cnocáinín of varying gradients around the 1 & ¾ loop course as well as plenty of tight turns and invariably run a time that is at least 90s slower than their usual parkrun course.
Congratulations to Lochlainn Connolly and we look forward to seeing him back in Castlehaven before too long.
