Results & Photos of the Cork BHAA Army-Navy 5 mile - Sun 14th Oct 2018

After a miserable and wet Saturday, the conditions for the Cork BHAA race on Sunday morning couldn't have been better with blue skies and sunshine. A total of 180 runners turned out which is in marked contrast to the 294 who turned out when it was an evening race in 2017. That's works out as a 39% drop which is a lot.

Disgraceful that Simply Suits did not get the 1st team prize in this race. They won it fair and square. If every team that did not have official employees on it were suspended there would be very few teams left. Cop on BHAA

Yes, disgraceful that the BHAA applied their own rules. Down with that sort of thing.

Apparently this had been agreed at a committee meeting and communicated to the appointed club secretary with no response. I'm not on the committee though.

Would you prefer that runners who abide by the rules do not win prizes? Because that is what happens.

As it so happens all 3 runners won prizes on the day for their individual performances so they didn't go home empty handed.

This isn't the first time the BHAA have stopped teams from winning prizes. But what do I know? I'm just the guy who spends a ridiculous amount of time doing registrations and results. So, dear keyboard warrior, what the heck gives you the right to tell these lads to cop on? They've just been doing this voluntarily for over 30 years.

John, why leave annonymous negative comments through? Put your name to comments or talk to the committee.

+1 for Donal. The BHAA are made up of volunteers who give up a significant amount of their time, standing in the cold and wet at times to put on these events. A 5 mile race for 5 euro is great value and so lucky to have these races in Cork.

Nobody is questioning the work the bhaa do but look at the results. The first team were not awarded the first prize.

Look at the results but also look at the rules. The rules indicate that you must be a current employee of the company you are registered with - with some exceptions (https://bhaa.ie/rules/).
