Midleton AC 5 Mile Race at 8pm Thursday 4th May 2017

The 34th annual Joe Hourigan Memorial Midleton AC 5 Mile Road Race will take place on Thursday 4th May at 8pm. The event is run by Midleton AC members on a voluntary basis to promote running in the community. This year, we also need help to generate funds to support an ongoing feasibility study into the development of a 400m running track in Midleton for club members and the wider local community.

The race would not be possible without both the support of the local community and the sponsorship of local businesses such as Elverys, McCarthy Insurance Group, Kearys, East Cork Oil, Market Green, ESB, AIB, Ulster Bank, Dairygold and Absolute Chiropractic, who have all made generous contributions.

This race was voted the best 5 mile road race in 2016 by the 12,000+ readers of the Cork Running Blog. For only €10, race entrants will get a drawstring goody bag, a key ring, an accurate chip time, a relatively flat course on quiet country roads and plenty of refreshments afterwards.

There is also a total of 55 prizes worth over €1,700 which will be awarded to the various race category winners with the Joe Hourigan Memorial Trophy going to the outright winner. In addition, those who register online in advance will enter a draw for a free hotel night for two with breakfast at the Garryvoe Hotel.

The 2017 race headquarters will be in the easily accessible Market Green Shopping Centre which has plenty of parking and is only a few hundred metres from the race start. Registration, number and goody bag collection plus the post-race reception, with refreshments and prize giving, will all take place at race HQ in Market Green.

There will also be walk up registration available at Market Green on Wednesday 3rd May from 4.30pm-8.00pm and again on race night, Thursday 4th May from 4.30pm onwards.
