Runner has Heart Attack in Dublin Half-Marathon

The Dublin Half-Marathon was held last weekend in the Phoenix Park and attracted a field of over 7000 runners. During the race, a runner collapsed after suffering a heart attack and an off-duty firefighter and a garda came to his assistance.

The female Garda officer was first on the scene and performed CPR. Off-duty Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) officer Ben Weddick who was competing in the race stopped and assisted in the CPR when he came to the scene.

The man was later rushed to hospital and is said to be making a good recovery.
