Running legend Haile Gebrselaisse retires after Great Manchester Run


Haile Gebrselaisse...one of the most successful athletes in the world has retired from competitive running today Sunday the 10th May 2015. In his last race at the Great Manchester Run 10km, he finished 16th in a time of 30m 05s. After finishing his race with the elites, he then went on to run with the mass field who started later.
 
The 42-year-old Ethiopian has won two Olympic gold medals, eight world championship victories and set 27 world records over his 25-year career.

He is one of the most recognised and famous athletes in the world and in more recent times is best known for having set a new marathon record of 2h 03m 59s in Berlin in Sept 2008.
