Great race today, lots of lovely marshalls on the course. So nice to get a free cup of tea at the end. A big thank you from The Serpie ladies over from London.

Great Race today. Superb course, we loved the 2.5 miles downhill finish. We were expecting a much bigger hill to climb based on the blogspot!! Everyone was so friendly, great tea and cakes too. I just wish your race was closer to Warrington UK..that is where Spectrum Striders come from.

Well done to all at Bandon last Sunday. Very well run and organised. Great food afterwards. And a pleasant surprise this year - HOT SHOWERS !!! ( after the icy cold ones of the last couple of years ).
Congrats to all.

A very well organised event as usual except for the ladies prizes. Why did the ladies prizes stop at 1 prize O/50 and the Men's prizes continue until at least O/70 or O/75 surely I thought the days of such discrimination were long past us.Wake up Bandon AC and be fair to the ladies afterall the entry fee is the same for us all

Moaning Mary has a point and I have no doubt the organisors will take this on board for future events. A quick look though at the results list does not indicate anyone over the F50 category so an extra few prizes here would not put them up or down ?

With respect to the number of prizes for women...

The standard practice is that the proportion of the total prize fund should at the very least equal the percentage of women taking part. i.e. If women make up say 40% of the total field then at least 40% of all prizes available should go to women.

78 out of the 264 runners in the Bandon 5 were women which equals 29.5% of the total field.

Bandon AC allocated 42% of all the prizes to women so there was nothing wrong there.

How the prizes are broken up into the various categories is up to the club itself.

If they had advertised more female categories on their poster/ flyer in advance then more female 0 55 + runners may have showed up.
