Ballycotton 10 entries open today!

Please note that entries to next years Ballycotton 10 road race open today at 2pm.

There are 2,300 places available. If you are a non-club runner or you didn't complete the summer series then this is your only real chance of getting in. It's very likely that all 2,300 places will be filled very quickly. If you are going for this online option then enter as soon as you can. Don't wait to do it later in the weekend or even tomorrow. Based on previous years, it may well reach the limit this evening.

More details on entry options in this earlier post.

The link for entering online after 2pm is HERE

Update...2:40pm....Entry website crashed at 2pm due to overload. Now working but there is a huge queue of entries.

Update...3:30pm...Online entries are now closed.

Should AAI registered runners hold back to allow as many non-registered runners as possible to participate John or do you think Ballycotton would prefer registered runners would go ahead and enter online too where possible?

Many Thanks!

As for AAI club runners, I think many will probably take the option of entering online as it's just a lot easier than the hassle of printing out forms, getting postal orders and and posting the entry in.

Personal choice really.

It's down already, think i prefer the postal option now!!!!

Paying by credit card kept failing but paying by Paypal worked

Anonymous said...

I'm in, used the paypal option so I'm registered. :) Bring on the winter training sessions!

System has crashed on me at least three times. They've taken the money from my bank account, but the website said my card had been rejected. Not sure where I stand. I've emailed the company and tried ringing them, but to no avail. I guess I'll just have to sit and wait and either get in or have to ask for my money back.

PayPal not working either! This is crazy. Bring back old postal entry system!!!!

I think I'm entered but cant pay. Clicking the pay button just reloads the same page. Not only can the system not handle load,,, its rubbish. Giving up. I'll enter Mallow 10 instead.

Derek said...

Aaaarhg now my 'cart' is empty. Tried again and entries are full.
Thanks precision timing and primo-solutions, you just wasted 90min of my life. FFS

Crashed during payment processing - gave up.... 1 hour later I now have 2 confirmation mails - I obviously need to cancel one, but no option to do so ???? bit of a F$%k up on the precision timing side.....

Anonymous said...

Like others tried and got an error and tried again. Now have 2 confirmation eails but no idea (yet) if I have paid for anything. Email sent to precison.

There were always going to be a few hurdles to oversome with the change in entry procedure. Hopefully it can all be sorted quickly.

Will there be a market for spare entries :)

Closed now (3:30pm)

Ballycotton '10' Entry Options

Sorry - The online entry limit has been reached
Sorry, but entries for this event are currently closed

Anonymous said...

This is just a joke, these companies promise the sun moon and stars just to get the gig. And crash due to high volume what did think was going to happen

Anonymous said...

Same as others, crashed first time during payment, managed to get back in paid using the paypal option, ten minutes later got confirmation of the first payment so now appear to have two entries!! Email sent to precision so will have to see what they have to say, surely they can refund duplicate entries and make these places available to other individuals.

Entered for two just before 3:30, got in straight away, no problems. Used computer in library where there is a very good server, maybe that was a help.

Anonymous said...

entered and it crashed. entered again - crached again ... will it take 2 payments now?? or am i not in at all ..... very poor show. not BC fault but precision just didnt work..

Anonymous said...

It has happened to me also, i seem to be entered 3 times, and only once did it mention that my account payment was successful, i ended up paying through paypal. the other option never seemed to work.
I emailed them as i obviously don't want to be paying 3 times for one super race,
so there is 2 more free spaces..

poor system , but these things can happen to the best!

Got in early. No 138 in q. Crashed and then down to no 1,328 Kept refreshing and eventually registered. Crashed during payment and when I got back in basket is empty. Then limit is full. As far as I'm concerned A lot of the goodwill Ballycotton has built up over many years has gone in 2 hours of utter incompetence. They were well aware of what the demand would be so shame on them for not going with a system capable of handling the demand.

i entered but again not sure if it worked correctly. if they take my cash but i dont get and entry - what will BC organisers do ???? FARCE,

joebloggs said...

entered @ 3.11 after a delay, paid through paypal no problem. a small bit of patience was the key. keep calm and start training!

Unknown said...

Is that it john? Are all entries gone?

Anonymous said...

had same issue as everyone else but have received one email from precision confirming entry and 15 euro payment so I think it took the registration and didn't charge more than once though i'd thought that had occured.
i do think comments criticising the organisers and saying that years of goodwill is used up are unbalanced and lack perspective. these things happen. its a great race and everyone wants to enter in the same few minutes. have patience or join a running club!

Anonymous said...

System asked you to have patience,it took me 55mins of a wait to get in but I just stayed in queue and got in through paypal no bother...I think constant pushing of buttons caused alot of peoples hassle!

Anonymous said...

Any hope for me. Was down to last stage..... Pay now and it never happened. Gave all credit card details etc. Got no confirmation e mail but feel cheated as was in queue and got to give all details, credit card, security number the lot and then the system left me down. So close but not there.

Anonymous said...

As 4:57pm comment, a bit of perspective and patience here. I began my quest at 3:02 and was registered by 3:20. The message I got was to be patient and that I was in a queue, which refreshed ITSELF every 60 sec. It specifically said NOT to press refresh as this would lead to possible problems. Seems to me that some Einsteins above lead to the problem that they were only too willing to complain about then! People eh?

Anonymous said...

I think the 4.47pm comment says it all. Patience was required & as you all know too well, when a job is rushed, it's probably not properly done. It is after all, only a road race.

What a disaster;logged on at 2 o clock like lots of others.Site crashed.Got back on to queue up thinking it wont be too long.2.55 came and had to abandon my quest in order to do school run.For first time in nine years I wont be doing Ballycotton. Why stop using a system that gave everyone a chance;post on day of forms issued and you were in.Not fair.

I'm a club member so I am lucky that I have another option to enter but I had a look at the new on line system. It looked woefully inadequate. no excuses for it. If you have missed out aim for the Mallow 10 instead - flatter faster and easier to get to than B.C

Anonymous said...

Impression I get from 5.03 above is that all one required was patience, well here's one for you. Logged in at 2. Number 200 odd. Message that system would refresh itself which it did once. On second refresh a page of gobbledygook. System had crashed. Tried to get back in but system was down. Eventually got in but about no 1600 in queue but system said there were enough places left. System, (yes system not me pushing buttons) kept refreshing until I was down to no 15. After an age the entry page came up which I completed no problem alas once I got to the payments page it crashed me out and the item that was previously in my checkout box was gone. So what did I do wrong? One of the first 200 to log in, followed all instructions, was not pushing butting. Put through my entry, went from checkout to pay and crash bang I'm out. Just a race to some but a pilgrimage of many of us who travel year after year to meet old friends. At our stage of life there are not a lot of Ballycottons left in us so apologies if we are coming across disappointed and feeling let down by the process. For those of you who got in, enjoy and remember how privileged you are, as there will be many of us at home who would just love to be there. Keep on running.

What is the big attraction of this race?.A hugh demand. Dont no why people are getting so upset. There are much better 10 mile races available .

Anonymous said...

With a race this popular and limited entry, there is bound to be people aggrieved. I got in this yr by getting in the que at 2:12 and finishing up at 3:05, luckily I was finished work half day today. It would have been impossible to spend a hr online if I was working.
Last yrs method was abit of a disaster for me, looked at the calendar and thought it would be no problem to enter as I was supposed to be off in the days before the postal deadline. As I work away from home alot I got held up with work, and with no one at home to fill form for me. So I can understand the disappointment of others today as I went through the same this day last yr when I opened the door to find my sae and entry form on the floor.

Paper entry forms will be available from John Buckley sports on Monday. I heard a rumour that there is already a queue forming outside... One guy had a sleeping bag apparently..

The site crashed through no fault of users so blaming "Einsteins" is a tad unfair as is saying a little bit of patience was all you needed. It failed when I clicked register, when I was in the queue and for lots of people when they used credit card payment instead of using PayPal so there were plenty of failure points. There was a period later when most people had probably got through or sick of it and there was no queue and then it filled up quite quickly.

I eventually got in but that was a frustrating experience. The demand was completely expected so it should have been robust enough to cope.

i know someone who had two crashed attempts at registering and finally registered on the third. He now has three entries?
