Run Killarney announce Marathon route...

Back in December, I had a post about a new Marathon in Killlarney coming up in 2013. In effect, the old 15 mile Maxi-Marathon has been replaced by a full distance Marathon. The route has now been announced...
It will start up near Barfinnihy Lough which is about 1 km to the south-west of Moll's Gap. The course will then take the usual downhill route to Killarney which will be very fast. It will then take in some loops around the park which will seem a lot tougher. There are no real hills as such but there are numerous small drags. In effect, the first half will be very fast while the seconds half will be a bit more challenging. The overall Marathon course should be very fast because of the net fall.

Another change this year is that the finish line for all races has been moved to near the Gleneagle Hotel.

Any ideas of a half marathon taking place down there?

The Half-Marathon will start near Molls Gap and finish at the Gleneagle Hotel.

This is a real commercial marathon. You MUST go down the night before to pick up your number and incur the cost of an overnight accomadation.
Why not post it out?
Most people from Cork can get up have breakfast 3hours before a race and drive to Killarney at their leisure for an 8am start in mid-summer.
Last years event was a fiasco at the Top of Molls Gap in the cold and wet waiting an extra 30mins to start. Running around the National Park can be scenic for a short race but the running surface, narrow paths and the short sharp ups/ downs will make this a really testing marathon.
We vote with our feet and I for one will give it a skip.

what about times on this course isn't there some rule about the net fall of ground from start to finish?

Well done to anonymous for smearing the hard work of the people who are bring a marathon to Killarney. God forbid if people have to travel down and support the local tourist industry by staying a night. I hope you have the time to pass on your concerns to the organisers of the Dublin, Cork, Berlin marathon etc.
