3D Running Track in Spain...

Recently, this new track facility was built in Alicante, Spain....

A standard 400m track except that it also has a 3-D feature..it has a hill as well!

An extra section of track curves up over an artificial hill with the changing rooms underneath. Between the curved hilly section and the normal track is a terraced section for spectators with an access tunnel under the track...

Obviously, the hilly section wont be used in competitions but what a novel feature...

At least they are investing in sport, Alicante is a small Spanish town and they can have a proper running track. How many is there of that quality in the whole of Cork?

Very true. All the tracks (two of them) are on the west of the city while nothing on the east. Investing in sport is good for health amongst a host of other things. Nice ideas too to have the changing rooms underneath so close to the track and allow people stand on the terrace.

Being from France I can say that plenty of tracks are available for all to use. You would even find them in mid-size towns. Usually sponsored by Local Governments, Sports Clubs, Universities... Access is open to everyone and local schools are certainly making the most of it when it comes to organizing their PE sessions.
