If you look through the results of the shorter road races (10km or less) around Munster, it's obvious that the vast majority of the runners are locals. In general, most people wont make a long trip to take part in a short race.
Here in Cork during the Summer, we have had a race every week, sometimes even more than one per week. Next door in Waterford, they also have had a busy Summer of road races.
This week, it just so happens that there are no local races in Cork and the Waterford guys are holding their race in Ardmore in West Waterford, just beyond Youghal. So, it presents a unique situation where East meets West, a race in West Waterford that is easy to get to from Cork.Ardmore is just off the N25 Cork to Waterford road. Just look for the signposts a few kms after the Youghal bypass. Note that the start time is 7:30pm, not 8pm!! Here is some more info on the race...
